How Relumio Works: Begin With Yourself, Then Explore the Connection

Discover how Relumio turns Chinese astrology charts into twelve personal vessels, relationship patterns, and conversations with Rei.

Sometimes you know exactly what happened, but you still do not know what to make of it.

They sent a warm message, then disappeared when you suggested meeting. You tried to explain why something hurt, and the conversation became another argument. You care about someone, yet feel less certain of yourself whenever you are together.

You may be looking for an explanation. You may also be looking for words: a way to describe what feels confusing without reducing either person to a label.

Relumio is an AI relationship exploration system we are developing around Chinese astrology and modern psychological perspectives. It is designed to help you explore how you seek closeness, protect yourself, and respond to the people who matter to you.

The experience begins with your own patterns. When you are ready, you can add someone and explore what happens between you.

A chart becomes twelve personal vessels

Relumio draws on Zi Wei Dou Shu, a traditional Chinese astrological system that organizes a birth chart into twelve palaces.

We present those twelve areas as personal vessels. Each holds a different part of your life: your relationship with yourself, siblings, partnership, children, money, wellbeing, the wider world, friends, work, home, inner life, and parents.

These areas are connected, but they are not interchangeable.

Your Self vessel explores how you understand yourself and the expectations you carry. Your Parent vessel focuses on your relationship with parental figures and authority. Your Partnership vessel considers the needs and tensions that may become especially important in intimacy.

This distinction matters. A tendency to stay composed at work does not automatically mean you want the same emotional distance with a partner. You may be comfortable asking a friend for help while finding it difficult to express disappointment to a parent.

The twelve vessels give those differences somewhere to be explored.

Begin with what you bring into a relationship

Before considering another person, Relumio starts with you.

A personal reading might explore the possibility that you become useful before you become vulnerable. You offer help, anticipate needs, and keep things running, but hesitate when it is time to ask for care.

Another reading might focus on the importance of independence. You may welcome connection while becoming uncomfortable when closeness starts to feel like an obligation to explain every choice.

These are interpretive starting points. Their value depends on whether they help you notice something specific in your experience.

You should be able to ask:

  • Where does this description fit?
  • Where does it miss something important?
  • What do I actually do when this situation happens?
  • What would I like to handle differently?

A reading should leave room for disagreement. Your experience remains part of the conversation.

Add someone to explore the pattern between you

Two people can respond to the same moment in very different ways.

After an argument, one person may want to talk immediately. The other may want time alone. The first experiences the pause as distance and reaches harder. The second experiences the stronger approach as pressure and withdraws further.

Looking at either person separately tells only part of that story.

Relumio’s two-person comparisons are designed to explore how patterns interact: where you may feel understood, what draws you together, and where attempts to connect may work against each other.

We do not use a compatibility score. A number cannot explain which needs are meeting, which agreements are missing, or what either person is willing to change.

The aim is to make the interaction easier to examine.

You can see an example in Diana and Charles: Exploring Three Relationship Patterns.

Bring a real question to Rei

Rei is the relationship AI companion we are creating around this context.

Instead of starting every conversation from nothing, Rei is intended to help you explore a specific question alongside your personal and relationship readings.

You might bring a moment such as:

“We talk every day, but whenever I ask about meeting, the plans stay vague.”

Or:

“When I say something hurt me, the conversation becomes about whether I should feel hurt.”

The useful next step may be to separate what happened from what you fear it means. It may be to identify the need underneath an argument, consider another explanation, or find a sentence you can actually say.

Rei is being designed to support that process. The conversations on our current website are prepared examples showing the intended experience.

What the charts can and cannot tell you

Chinese astrology provides Relumio with a symbolic framework. It does not establish someone’s private thoughts, confirm infidelity, diagnose a psychological condition, or prove that a relationship will succeed.

The psychological perspectives help us ask about needs, communication, boundaries, and recurring responses. Their inclusion does not turn an astrological interpretation into a scientific personality assessment.

When you want to know whether someone is willing to build a relationship with you, their words and actions still matter. A chart cannot make that decision on their behalf.

A useful reading might help you arrive at a clearer question. The other person’s response provides information the reading cannot.

You can begin on your own

You do not need to arrive as a couple.

Relumio is being created for people who have questions about a connection, including those who are exploring it alone. Romantic relationships are one starting point, with friendship, family, work, and other important relationships also part of our wider direction.

For personal readings, we plan to ask for birth information such as date, time, birthplace, and gender. Exploring another person’s chart will require their relevant birth information too. We will explain the final requirements before personal readings open.

For now, you can explore the website’s samples and see whether this way of thinking helps you put words to something familiar.
